before i start the sweater…i’ve been practicing the body of the sweater pattern, which is one row of knit 2 together yarn over then the next row is purl 2 together yarn over…
just so i am getting it straight…
-i’m doing the yarn overs the same, which is to say the yarn is going over the right hand needle to the back…counter clockwise if you were to look at the tip of the needle. this is correct???
and i’m occassionally finding that i am ending up with fewer stitches–i guess i’m not doing the yarn over consistently. any words of wisdom here?
When doing the knit side…to yo bring the yarn between the needles then over the top of the right needle to the back again. When purling the yarn goes over the right needle then bring it between the needles to the front again.
You might have forgot to do a YO on the first row, or missed picking it up on the next row, or missed doing one on row 2. Just make sure you’re doing them all.
You can usually see the ‘pattern’ of your YOs when finishing a row by looking at the sts on your ndl. The K/P2tog will sit perpendicular to the ndl but the YO will be at a slight angle. So if all your 2togs are followed by a YO it’ll look like:

If you have two || tog you missed doing the YO between them.
