Another Book Question

I’m new to knitting, but not an absolute beginner. I received a B&N gift card and want to pick up a book or 2 today while I’m out, but I’m not sure what to get. I have Stitch n Bitch checked out from the library and love it - I find her explanations very helpful, but I’m not sure I should buy it since I can get it at the library. I’m looking for a book more along those lines (information and techniques, etc.) rather than a pattern book.

What about the Vogue Knitting book? Is the smaller Vogue book worth it, or should I opt for the the big one?

What about the RD book by Monte Stanley?

I’m just not sure what to pick … any help/reviews/etc. are appreciated!

I’ve had the big Vogue Knitting book for years and I absolutely love it. It is a very complete book and I don’t think there have been too many technical questions that it hasn’t been able to answer, and, if I recall, a quick search online got me those answers. It also has a decent stitch dictionary in it.

A couple of years ago, I bought the smaller version. While it is nice to keep in your knitting bag, it isn’t as complete as the larger version. I think if I were choosing between the two, I’d get the full version.

Look at some of the Stitchionary books. I think these are fantastic books. Lots of ideas and they are usually on sale at B&N like 20% off. I’m heading there today myself to browse. There is also a lovely little book called “When bad things happen to good knitters” or something like that. It has all kinds of helpful little hints like how to pick up a dropped stitch in pattern and assisting with “too small” or “too big” issues. I bought several for knitting friends this past year and they all love it!
