I would like to know how to divide the stitches on to the required 3 needles. TIA
What part of the pattern are you up to, the gusset, the heel?
Quoting a couple of rows near the area in question may help us figure it out.
Dont laugh, but I’m trying to figure out after I cast on the 64 stitches and start the actual knitting, how many stitches go on needle 1, needle 2 and needle 3. I think, and I repeat think, that they are divided as follows: 32 on needle 1; 16 each on needles 2 & 3. Does that sound correct? This is my first attempt at making socks.

I have the pattern but if it doesn’t specify how to divide the sts, you can do it any way that you like. The way you have sts divided will work or you could divide approximately evenly. When you get to the heel, the pattern will probably tell you how to divide sts and it may well be exactly as you propose.
