What does anyone know about it?
I was lurking on the net (as I am wont to do) and came across this term. On deeper Googling, I found out the title of the book, and some vague definitions. Guerrilla seems to be related, but that is more like creative graffiti.
Anyone have a more concrete definition?
Any and all help would be appreciated!
Well, I recalled hearing of a book with a title like that, so I looked it up on Amazon, andhere it is. I’m not sure about other contexts, but it seems to me like it might refer to knitting in your own way instead of just following mainstream patterns.
I agree with Marria that the term refers to Anna Zilboorg’s book, but I think it is more about explaining how knitting actually works - how the stitches are formed, and the ways in which they will sit on the needles. This knowledge will enable you, as the knitter, to really understand what your stitches are doing, and how to influence your knitting yourself, and, incidentally, gives you the knowledge to refute any knitting police who might tell you that what you are doing is wrong!
So it is about knitting “your own way” but from a understanding of knitting rather than just 'cause that’s how you want to do it.
I don’t know about anarchist knitting per se, but the Globe and Mail posted this article the other day about guerilla knitting, which is indeed a form of grafitti:
