Well my new project is moving along. As many of you may recall from my last update. I knitted a whole skeen before I realized I got the vertical pattern incorrect in the Baby Aphgan I am making. Thus, I pulled it all out (See my big fake smile?). The good news is that I caught up to where I left off, and wow this is really a beautiful item. I am so amazed at how beautiful knitted items turn out (Real smile).
So I have 3 more skeens to go, and being that this is supposed to be a weekend project(Maybe for power knitter on speed), I hope to have it close to completed by Sunday as I have lots of travel time to knit this weekend. What a challenge that is going to be knitting and telling the driver how to drive (Someone has to supervise!).
Well I can not lie to you all. It has finally happened. I turned 42 in November. I am a full time computer programmer. A couple of the “age 40s” people in my office wear reading glasses… So while talking to someone about a report that had very small text I said “How in the world can you read that??” to which I was handed a pair of reading glasses. hum I was blind but now I can see… Oh my God. Who knew? I can actually see. So, I decretely ran out after work in my leather bomber and my newly knitted scarf. (Of course I wear it! After all, that was why I made it. grin) I stealthed around the large drug store. I remember thinking how I did not recall ever seeing “reading glasses” at a drug store before. Then the the little voice in my head said “That is why you are here because you are blind!”. Needless to say, I ignored the voice and spoke to an employee who directed me to the “reading glasses” section that was right behind me. Of course I put on my best “These are for someone else” look and proceeded to try them on.
Let me say being a big bearish guy… has some drawbacks. The mirror to look at yourself in glasses allowed me to look at the area between my belly button and my neck(Of course I care what I looked like!). Immediate I am reminded of the many showers I had to take where thee the showerhead was at my throat. Oh the joy of being 6’ 4". Either way, I find a pair and make a stealthy path to the checkout and escape without someone discovering me.
The good news is I can actually read things much easier as well as see my knitting work much better. The bad news. I am getting old! How could this happen! So here I was last night knitting with my “reading glasses” and I thought… What a picture this must paint. This hulking man in his “reading” glasses knitting away. Bahh who cares! Glasses make me look smarter! Right!!! hahaha
Well I am happy to say I can actually enjoy television and knit at the same time. Previously that was totally impossible. As some of you recall the “Scarf from Hell” prevented any thinking. It was Basketweave or die!
Well I am going to close for now. I will post pictures of this new work as soon as it is complete.
I hope I made one of you snicker or at least smile.
All the best,
BigBearJeff
