Have just started an American pattern which uses place markers for the increases ( and probably more later on). The place markers apppear to distort the knitting and my question is this. Are they really necessary? In UK patterns I’ve always counted stitches to the place for increasing so can I leave the markers out? TIA
Hi Lilly, what are you making? I would imagine if the pattern calls for stitch markers, they are needed. I’ll bet if they impede your knitting, you could use a small loop of different color waste yarn for them. Even get creative with different colors, for different number count!
Hi Daphne. I’m making a ‘top down’ baby bag. I’ve started gain using the suggested ‘wool’ marker method and this seems to be better and gives less distortion than plastic ones. Thanks for your help
