Am stuck on the knitting part of the knitting..lol

Ok, went to Wal Mart today, got some books, yarn, and size 10 needles. Got the casting on part very quickly, and got super excited! (With help from the video’s of course) Just downloaded the English knit video, and OMG I’m lost!

Where do I put the extra yarn that was too short to cast? Which loop does it go under of the two that were on each cast stitch? In all the tutorials I’m looking at, they start with something with a few rows on it, I’m so lost when starting from the cast!

Talk about extreme ups and downs, I went to screaming (yes, I actually screamed) when I got my first cast on stitch, to just about crying with frustration!

Deeeeeep breath!!

The little tail that’s left after you cast on just stays there. When you get done, you can weave it in later. Just be careful not to knit with it.

Just put your needle in the loop that’s around the needle. Your needles should have no yarn between them at this point. Then wrap the yarn around the right needle tip and pull it through the loop.

I just reread your post and you mention TWO that were cast on each stitch?
There should be one loop for each cast on.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help Ingrid!

Ok, did the deep breath part… And boy did that sure help!!!

Went though the video again and figured out what I did wrong in casting on, and boy it sure does look better now! WOOOHOO!

I’m off to the link you provided! Thanks again!

:cheering: :cheering: You’ll get it!!

This is too funny… Just when I thought I had the knitting part of knitting… There I go and get in my own way again!

I casted properly, and started doing the knitting thing (lol) and thought I was doing well. Got all the stiches from one needle to the other, and low and behold, I have double stitches on the needle again! What’s it with me and wanting to double everything somehow! lol! Will trouble shoot this in the morning - I have got to be missing something!

At least I’m not too upset this time… I WILL get this! Thanks for the encouragement!

You must be either wrapping twice, or you have your yarn in the front before you knit your stitch.

I guess you’re just an overachiever!

Holy Cow Man I got it!!! I still need to work on my tension and stuff, but I got three rows! Totally awesome!!! (now it’s so tight I think I’d have a hard time getting a sewing needle into it…lol)

But I got it! WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

TY TY TY TY TY TY TY Ingrid!!!
