I’m on the last row of a shawl i’m knitting for my Mother’s birthday and the directions say to P2tog with the yarn in the back. If I’m purling, then my right needle is in front of the left needle so how do I wrap the yarn around if it’s in the back…Please help!! How do I p2tog wyib???
Through the back loop, maybe?
Wouldn’t that create a yarn over?
well, the bind off directions do say that there will be a yarn over created by doing this…
I think i’m having trouble actually seeing how to purl with the yarn in the back…
Bring the yarn to the back, insert your needle for the purl stitch.
Now bring it forward to wrap around for a normal purl stitch.
Have you done a yarn over from a knit stitch? This is just the opposite.
I think it does mean to purl 2 tog through the back loops. Which is hard, but as I found, possible. :teehee:
Thank you all sooo much!!! Now I can finish and mail my gift!!
Yeah, I just tried it too, and it was really hard. Hope you don’t have to do too many of them! BTW, according to one of my books, it’s a decrease used in projects containing other twisted stitches. Hopefully that jibes with what you’re doing.
It is used in the border area of the wavy lace wrap I just finished, that is how I knew about it. It is one of the only lace patterns I have done where you have to do fancy stitches on the wrong side as well as the right side.
