Allergies question

I could use your help…I’m knitting a project for a friend who has allergies to animal fibers and acrylic yarns. I need some suggestions of what type of yarn to use and the best place to find them. Also, is there a good way of removing cigarette smell from a knitted item? I’m a smoker and the smell of smoke would also bother her allergies. I have always washed any item I have made a couple of times before I send it on. But, does that really get the smell out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated :muah:

you could try bamboo or soy yarn- plant fibers basically. no idea how to get the smoke out though.

what about cotton?

I’m knitting a scarf for my sister who is also allergic in Berroco Touche - it is a cotton blend, very soft to the touch and comes in lovely colors…

Washing it should get the smoke smell out. Just remember to put it in a baggie or seal it in something as soon as it comes out of the dryer.
