Alice’s Mitts pattern on ravelry.
What does it mean, “divide on needles in multiples of three. join in round”
I’ve knitted in the round - what specifically are they asking me to do when I divide?

I’m guessing them mean to put on each needle a multiple of 3. I expect this has to do with where the cables fall.
Say you’ve got a total of 45 stitches. If I wanted to put that on 3 needles, I’d put 15 (15 being a multiple of 3) on each needle.
Say I had a total of 48 stitches, I’d put 15 on 2 needles and 18 on the 3rd - so that each needle had a multiple of 3.
Marilyn, who is too lazy right now to pull up the pattern to see how many stitches that pattern has.
OK, I felt guilty and looked up the pattern. There are several based on Alice in the Twilight saga but I think this is the one, yes?
I was thinking of Bella’s mittens I think, those have a big fat cable.
Alice’s - she wants you to divide by 3 because the ribbing is 3x3.
I’m not sure which size or which yarn you’re using.
thank you - yes, that’s the pattern - to knit in the round, I use circs, but to divide by three, does it mean to put the yarn on separate DPN’s?
I’m too visual I guess! I was thinking of using Cascade superwash 220
If you use 2 circulars to do the mitts put a multiple of 3 on each of the two needles so that you finish a batch of k3 or p3 before going on to the next needle. If it was me I would make the first needle end p3, so I could begin on k3. I get a better join when I can knit it. YMMV
