After completing my dishrag I showed my husband and he noted it wasn’t square. How would I square it up. I can I prevent this problem in the future. Margie:knitting: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:
After it is finished
The basic pattern may appear square, but everyone knits differently. If you knit tighter or looser, use a different needle size or yarn, do more or less rows, etc. it may come out different than the the pattern. Sometimes tossing it in the washer and dryer will help square it up.
It’s a dishcloth. It works the same whether it’s square or not so does it really matter? I never worry about it since it’s just going to clean up spilled gravy and applesauce… :teehee:
It’s possible you added extra sts along the way, that can throw off the square shape. But so what if it isn’t? Some are round, some are rectangular, they all work for their intended purpose.
My dishclothes, which I knit as big diamonds, never come out square, either. I figure it’s just a dishcloth! They work so much better than the store-bought ones I don’t worry about the shape.
