Afghan pattern needed

When I was a kid we had the most hideous afghan. It was brown and yellow striped. I don’t know if it was knit or crocheted. The stripes were pretty thick and it had a kind of wavy thing going on. I want to knit something similar for my sister, since we both have fond memories of that afghan. If anyone can help me out, that would be great.

My aunt made lots of those. It’s similar to a feather and fan pattern only you M1 or kfb instead of YO. It’s also called a chevron pattern and I found one here:

Ok, I found this pattern. Ripple Afghan The size and shape of the stripes are pretty much what I’m looking for. But it doesn’t look exactly like it because the afghan we had was definitely not made with a thick yarn. If I had to guess I’d say it was a worsted weight yarn. How much of a difference in the size and shape would it make if I used a worsted instead?

I know I’m not going to be able to make one exactly like the one we had, but I’d like to get as close as possible.

The stitch pattern is a 21 st repeat, so you could swatch about 51 sts (2 repeats, plus the 9 sts on the end of the row) in the pattern with worsted scrap yarn to see how you like it. It will also give you a gauge for your yarn that you can compare to this pattern so you’ll know how many repeats you need to get the width you want.
