Hello,
I’m want to knit a lovely new throw. Only trouble is I don’t know what yarn to use. I want it to be Chucky and grey but I’m having trouble deciding what will be best. Please help with any good suggestions.
Welcome to the forum!
I’ve used Cascade 128 for baby blankets and loved it.
Were you thinking of wool or acrylic?
I always consider who will be using the thing when I’m done with it. I would avoid any yarn that has to dry flat for a throw. I think autocorrect changed chunky to Chucky. Did you mean chunky? I’ve done many afghans in acrylic yarns. They go in the washer and dryer. Do you have a particular pattern in mind?
One thing you should know is that there is no such thing as “best” anything. There are “better things” at this time, and it can change tomorrow. It all depends on what YOU want… we are all correct, but some are more correct than others.
The first thing you need to determine is what are you making, who is it for, how will it be used. That will tell you which material to use, or what colour, or if there will be a pattern. Then you go and make it!! But any choice anyone makes is right – for them – and what YOU choose will be right for YOU. We can’t make that decision for you; it’s YOUR knitting, so YOU have to decide.
As you have been told countless times, you must knit up a swatch. From every yarn type you have or come across, knit a square and keep it for reference, with all the notes. Then you will be able to decide what you should use. Keep adding to your “reference library” as time goes on, and you will become the expert! You have to do it for yourself… no one can tell you what is ‘best’.
