Advice wanted:seaming lace

Just finished the front for the Cropped Lace Top (Debbie Bliss mag Spring/Summer 2011) and will be seaming soon! Any advice for seaming lace pieces?

I try to use 3 needle bind off whenever I can and almost always on shoulders. I’ve used mattress st on side seams although depending on the lace pattern, it may be difficult to find a clean edge to seam this way.
