Advanced Beginning Knitter Needs Help Reading Pattern

Hello,

I’m a self taught beginning knitter…through books and DVD’s. Stumped as to how to translate this section of the pattern:

Row 1 Slip 1 as if to knit, k1, pass slipped st over, k6-7sts.
Row 2 Slip 1 as if to knit, k1, pass slipped st over, k5-6sts.

and the pattern continues on until you reach k1-2sts.

I understand everything except the section ending k6-7sts and the k5-6sts and so on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.[ul][/ul]

Could the two numbers be for two different sizes?? How many stitches do you have on the needle as you start those instructions??

The pattern is for a belt. There are only 8 stitches cast on. I got the pattern on the Lion’s Brand website under free patterns.

Ahhh, it just clicked. K6 - 7 means that you will knit 6, and 7 stitches will remain after that row. Likewise for all the other rows.
