Adjusting a simple pattern

Hey all!

been using knitting help for those times when i’m coming back from a crafting hiatus and need a reminder of how to cast on :stuck_out_tongue:

anywho, i was contracted (read: asked nicely) by a very good friend of mine in Germany to make him a scarf.

he decided he wanted me to work this pattern:

I’m going to be working it using 2 strands of Wool-ease Chunky instead of the suggested yarn. (it’s a bulky weight, pattern calls for super bulky)

I’m thinking of using a smaller needle as well since my yarn isn’t as thick… any idea what size i should be looking for? my gauge is pretty average as far as i know.

any help would be appreciated. if i have to i’ll just wing it and use this as an excuse to stock up on Bamboo needles :woot:

thanks in advance for all the help,
craftyboy

If you’re going to use 2 strands of chunky together, it’s going to end up waaaay thicker than the bulky, so you’d want to use a larger needle or the same size. Now if you single strand it you would drop down to size 15s, which are 10mm. Probably just need to add about 4 sts, maybe 6, depends how wide it knits up and how wide you want it.

oh wow i misread the pattern as it was :stuck_out_tongue: i thought they said 2 strands of super bulky, it just said 2 colors. thanks… i’ll rock a single strand and i’ll play with needle sizes
