Adj pattern with short rows

I’m making a shawlette with short row shaping. Original pattern calls for 218 sts and then for the first row of shaping, knit 112 then turn (I know how to do this).

QUESTION: Since I’ve added two repeats (72 sts) making a total of 290 sts, how many should I knit on the first row of shaping?
My guess would be 218 plus 36 = 254. Am I thinking correctly?

Many thanks! TeresaBhttp://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/images/icons/xicon6.gif.pagespeed.ic._4UEOZ-Ipw.png

That makes sense to me. I assuming the short row shaping continues to add rows up the central portion of the shawl.

Can you link to your pattern?

Wish I knew how to link, but I don’t!

Thanks, I’ll run a lifeline first JUST IN CASE…

Always a safe idea! Good luck with it and show us us photo if you’d like. We’d love to see the finished shawl.
