Adding yarn to a sock

I am knitting a basic sock pattern with three needles found a knot in my yarn cut it out . But I don’t know where to bring in the new yarn, at the beginning of a row or in the middle of a row. Will it make a hole in the sock? Any suggestions thanks in advance. Midge

I’d just do it anywhere unless there is a lacy bit and some that is more solid, then I would do it in the solid area. You can just start knitting with the new yarn or you can knit one stitch with both the tail yarn and the new yarn, both work well and when you work in the ends you seal up any hole. Be careful if you knit one stitch with both yarns that you treat that double looking stitch as only one stitch on the next pass.
