I know I should be able to find this somewhere, but my search hasn’t turned up what I need.
I’m starting “Toasty” on Ravelry and I would like to add a thumb gusset. It has a CO of 34 sts. Someone on there added an “8-stitch gusset” but I can’t figure this out. Can anyone give me some advice (or point me to a website) about what kind of st pattern I need to add so I can have even just a small gusset? (If you want to get fancy and explain the sts for a L and R hand gusset, that would be even more awesome.)
I use the gusset on this pattern (pink cabled) for all my mitts. I don’t change anything for left and right hand. http://thegivingflower.de/?page_id=78
Toasty looks like a simple pattern so adding the gusset shouldn’t be a problem. You’ll just have to figure out at what point you want it.
BTW…I made my first mitts with a thumb like the one she uses and it looks weird off, but is fine on the hand.
Hi Jan… one more question. I’d like to use that pattern but do I need to adjust the number of stitches to start off? In other words, do I need to knit something different than Row 38 to begin? I’m mostly wondering about the k8, pm, k2, pm, knit around. I can’t figure out what the k8 is for.
I’m assuming I will follow the remaining instructions exactly (that paragraph and the thumb instructions) except that I would finish off the glove in all stockinette.
I hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help.
