Adding a Border to a Balnket

Hi folks.

I’m knitting another blanket but this time I’d like to pick up stitches along the edge and add a border. I have used the Long Tail Cast-on and a have knit the first stitch through the back loop and slipped the last stitch through the back look purl wise (I’m not sure if these finishes make a difference to how I’d pick up).

Do you know if I can create mitred corners with the borders? I’ve looked at a few videos but I’m struggling to find what I need.

This seems like a reasonable way to go about mitering the corners. You’ve probably seen this one in your search.

There’s this video for picking up sts if that helps.

I find a crochet edge easier to apply to a finished knit.
