Adapting Irish Hiking Scarf

I have the patten for the Irish Hiking Scarf, but I’d really like to make it with 2 cables instead of 3. I’m not a big person, and 3 makes it a little too wide for me. I don’t know how to adjust it so that the borders look right.:??

The pattern can be found at knittingpatterncentral.com under scarfs.

Thanks tons.

The pattern for the border is six stitches wide on each side(the WS is K2, P2, K2 and the RS is K4, P2) so you just make sure you do that on both ends. Then you also have a six-stitch pattern included between each cable. So you do the six end border stitches, the first cable, the border separating the cables, the second cable, and then the end border again. I think that would make it look like the regular Irish Hiking Scarf, just missing one cable and its separating border.
