Accidentally Knitted Backwards

Hello! I am a beginner knitter and this is my first project.

I am making a sweater and for some reason it ended up backwards so that the purl stitches are on the outside. However, it’s still turning out okay. I am now making the neckline, and the pattern says that I need to work on the right shoulder first, and use SSK for the right shoulder. Then I should use Knit 2tg for the left shoulder after I complete the right shoulder. However, since my sweater is backwards, i need to work on the left shoulder first.

My question is, do I still need to knit 2tg for the left shoulder, or do I switch to SSK? Thanks!

What pattern are you using? Have you been knitting in the round? I’m trying to understand what’s happening. If you’ve been knitting in the round and the knit side (RS) is on the inside of the tube you can simply turn it right side out and have the knit side facing. HTH but if I’ve totally misunderstood someone else can help.

So I worked in the round for the body bottom up, but starting from the front panel I stopped working in the round. I am still using the same circular needles, but I am just only working on half of the sweater and turning it when I make a new purl/knit row. the problem is that even if I turn it so that the knit side is out, the working yarn is still on the left shoulder, but the pattern says I need to work on the right shoulder first. I’m just confused because I am not too sure what kind of effect knit 2tg makes vs the SSK. At this point, I made the two shoulders and neckline by casting off in the middle, and the pattern now is asking to continue knitting each shoulder separately, and decrease using knit2tg for left shoulder and SSK for right shoulder.

So Would it be still be okay if i use knit2tg on the left shoulder as the pattern asks? I’m just not sure if it makes any difference that I’m starting with the left shoulder instead of the right shoulder. SOrry if this is confusing, thanks so much for your help
