Abbreviations

I’ve been knitting for a few years now, mainly aran jumpers.
I’ve come across this abbreviation, I can’t make out what it’s suppose to do apart from making a hole in the knitting.

   (SP1)

YB, sl 1 purlwise, YF
YF, sl 1 purlwise, YB

Any help please.

Hi and welcome!
These abbreviations are for a slip stitch pattern:

YB, sl 1 purlwise, YF
YF, sl 1 purlwise, YB

Yarn to the back, slip one stitch purlwise, yarn to the front
Yarn to the front, slip one stitch purlwise, yarn to the back.
Front means the side facing you and back, the side away from you.

Thanks for your reply. I think I’ll just knit the stitch, and thank you for the wonderful knitting videos that you’ve put on for us.

Gail.
