Abbreviation deciphering help, please

knitters,

i continue to work (slowly) at the sweater i’ve been knitting for months. for a little instant gratification, i decided to make a scarf. the pattern is “Julie” from darnyarn.net. the pattern is rated as difficult, but i think i can do it.

the two abbreviations that i’m a little unclear on are:
yfrn—i’ve seen yfwd in place of a yo, but i’ve never seen this.

also, C4B—i haven’t cabled in a little while, so i’m trying to remember how. does this mean i put four sts on the cable needle or two?
any help anyone can give would be appreciated mightily.

best,
historienne

yfrn= yarn forward and around the needle, I think

I am for some reason indifferent to the charm of cables and don’t knit them, so I’m not sure about C4B.

Cable abbreviations give you the total number of stitches in the cable, so a C4B would be to put 2 to the back on the cable needle.
