Just wanted to issue a friendly warning to my friends here who might be easily offended by certain language and are inclined to read my blog now and then.
Do NOT read my boring blog entry for today titled “Kicking Back In KY”. There is some rather strong language there.
Hmmmm. Now I REALLY want read it! 
That wasn’t the reason I posted this, but feel free. I just know that there are some folks here who might read it and feel offended and I wanted to give them a heads up. My blog isn’t always family friendly.

Yup buddy I totally agree. Sounds like you got hosed. And who would think Kentucky of all places! You are so right. What a bunch of hypocrites! I’m off to Montana tomorrow, driving there from Puget Sound, Washington (a non-smoking state). And I just learned that Montana, MONTANA home of the west, the cowboy, beer drinking, smoking Montana has gone smoke free too. I’m crushed. Just never seemed like the kind of state that would go that way. I hear from locals there that its Californians that have moved there,pushing their clean air agenda around. Anyways, its so disappointing cause we have some favorite bars there too and now we probably can’t smoke in them either. I’m crossing my fingers though.
Here’s wishing that time goes fast for you this weekend and that you are too bored out of your mind!

Folks, please, please let’s not turn this into a debate on the subject. Frankly, I just don’t see it turning out well.

Golly gee whizz. What do you mean offend, Mason? You are a 'real’
person. I don’t agree always about the smoking, non-smoking, etc. rules personally. If one is in a bar, pub, whatever you want to call it, then smoke, or not.
I did not know anything about Kentucky. However, having lived in the Dallas Metroplex for a little over two years I am somewhat appalled by the fact that one can eat thmeselves into oblivion and yet have to drive into another town to buy even wine and beer. I come from, L.A., I know, not the best place in the hemisphere, then for years lived in Las Vegas, NV and then we moved to beautiful downtown DeSoto, TX. Heck, if people don’t want to drink, fine; if they do and are of age, I am really upset the masses in this place can keep those of an age of majority from buying a bottle of anything - as long as it is legal in the U.S. I thought Prohibition was over and done with in something like 1934. Enough is enough. I am a Liberal, always have been, and these kind of rules made by who knows are getting out of hand. Anyway, understand why you were, are, irritated and, by the way, have heard and said all the words in your blog. Something has to be done to change things. We need to give the country back to the people, not the churches or the politicians. Grrrrrrrrrrrr…:gah: :gah:
I tried to leave a comment on your blog but I couldn’t figure out how. :teehee: Telling me to beware of something is pretty much the best way to get me to do it!
I’ve lived in non-smoking states almost my whole life (it was mind-blowing when I lived in VA to see a McDonalds with a smoking section!) so I’m used to it. Combined with my hating of smoking inside and the fact that pretty much the only time I like to go outside is to have a smoke, the non-smoking in bars and restaurants never really bothered me much. It’s when they start extending the non-smoking areas that I start to wonder why they don’t just ban it altogether. I’ve not been to CA since I was little but a friend who went came back with stories about how you can’t even smoke outside in public, or within x feet of a public door or window, and there were some other restrictions as well… I don’t know if he was exaggerating but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Was going to post an opinion on the whole smoking thing, but you’re probably right that the thread might go south on us.
But here’s another weird thing about this state: most of the really good bourbon is brewed here in KY—in [I][B][U]DRY [/U][/B][/I]counties! Try and figger that $#!t out! :??

It’s true. No smoking inside of any public buildings (businesses, etc) or within 10-15 feet of working doors or windows, on buses or other public transportation. I’m not positive if it passed, but there was an initiative on the ballot (or talk of it) to ban smoking in cars where minor children are passengers. In the airports, there are “smoking rooms” (or at least there used to be) with double sets of doors to keep the smoke inside. As a non-smoker, I appreciate it, but I can see how smokers might get frustrated.
Mason, I can definitely understand your frustration. Here in Israel all the bars are divided - smoking and non-smoking rooms, so it gives you at least a place to smoke.
That makes sense. I have always contended that there are reasonable compromises to all such situations and simply get frustrated when people refuse to consider them. The whole nanny state mentality makes me nuts,

I have a long long story about the whole smoking ban here in CO. (kindly brought to you from the People’s Republic of Boulder arrgggghhh)!!!
Well, to make a VERY loooooong story short, my MIL (she’s gone now), owned a bar, and before the smoking ban went into effect she was making enough profit to at least not be in the red and to be able to pay the bills. After the ban went into effect her business fell from making at least a $1000 deposit twice a week to well maybe $1000 month (IF she was lucky)!!:passedout:
Hell, after the ban she couldn’t pay her property taxes, much less pay for product or utilities. 98% of her business dropped off.:twisted:
I certainly don’t buy the whole, if you make it smoke free the non-smokers will come, what a case of BOVINE SCATOLOGY!!!
If they never darkened the doors before they sure ain’t gonna make a point to go in now.
Just my two cents on the whole thing, ya know it’s kinda hard to watch one of your loved ones die (literally) right along with her livelihood!!!:waah:
