A Touch of Whimsy hat is now done. It was a fun and fast knit. I knit it to
go with A Touch of Whimsy scarf.
As with the scarf, I knit the hat with the luscious Malabrigo and size 7 needles for the hat band, size 8-16" circs and dpns for the top portion of the hat.
The pattern can be found here.
I’m so excited that you have the hat pattern done! :happydance: It is getting so darn cold here and I was going to work on the scarf while I’m at Stitches and now I can work on the hat too! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:
That’s Mala-whatsit? (I can never remember what its called!) It looks exactly (I mean exactly!) like a Kool-aid died yarn my Mom gave me which I am currently knitting into a pair of socks for my 3 yrold DD-how funny it’s the same color!! I have a sneaking suspicion my look-alike isn’t quite as soft, though!
Oh well, at least the color matches  she won’t know the difference-I’ll be happy if she just keeps them on her feet, LOL!
I can’t wait to see the matching fingerless gloves!
Ya’ll are so kind! You’re giving me the big head :flirt: !!
You know, Laura, the hat didn’t even take a full hank, about 2/3 I think, I don’t think that the gloves will take an entire hank, but I hate to say that when I’ve not yet done them. But I bet they don’t. I had thought about doing a bit of a different design on them, too, but I’m doubt that I do, I will probably do them the exact same way that I did the hat, knit the cuffs for the arms, graft them (LOL, I said “graph” all over the pattern  ), then pick up sts and knit the fingerless gloves, I was thinking that I was going to do them after I knit a shawl, but I don’t think I can wait :teehee:
LOL, I know what you mean, Jax, it does have a koolaid color to it, doesn’t it?! It is a lovely shade of pink, and oh…so soft! LOL, I bet she keeps her koolaid socks on her feet! That makes them extra special!
Thanks again, everyone, ya’ll just made my day :cheering: :cheering:
Thanks so much for writing up such great patterns! I just ordered yarn from 100purewool in quantities large enough to make this set for myself AND my MIL in Turkey!
Just wondering - is the hat generously sized? I like snuggly warm caps, and I’m hoping I won’t have to alter the pattern to accomodate my pickinesss.
Great job on the patterns and the knitting! Looking forward to the fingerless gloves. :cheering:
My Goodness, Ya’ll are so sweet! You have really and truly made my day by saying such nice things Thanks so much! :cheering: :happydance: :cheering:
Bridgette, as for the size, I think that it’s about normal, I don’t really know what the average head size it for women, sorry! It fits my big head very snuggly…and, much to my surprise, I’ve got a big head  ! I just remeasured my head, and it’s still big :roflhard: 21 3/4 inches. I also remeasured the hat, it’s 19 3/4 inches in it’s very relaxed state and it stretches to fit my head nicely, I think that it will stretch farther if need be and still be snug on a smaller head because of the cabling.
Should you need to adjust sizing, I don’t believe that it would be difficult, just as long as you end with an even # row on the hat band. Please, don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
