A Sleeve How To Question

Greetings Everyone…

I’ve got a “How to Question”…

I’m fudging my way through making a sweater for a child  … Anywhooo… I tried doing the sleeves seperate but can’t seem to get the cap (I guess that’s what you call it) to fit nicely into the armhole, I wasn’t having too much success that way, and I’ve taken it out so many times now, I’m ready to pull out my hair! :hair:

So I got this idea to try picking up the stitches around the armhole (saw this concept on DIY Knitty Gritty). I picked up the stitch’s and began knitting in the round… Thinking that I would be able to salvage this wreck with this method, I then realized, should I be doing something with that portion of the underarm (armedge?)… :noway: This is what I get (a beginner) for trying something out of my league

Ok :?? I’ve pulled this out quite a few times now trying to imagine what I should do next :wall: …

Can someone please help me out… Is there a concept about shaping the sleeve properly when knitting in the round down? I hope I’m asking this question correctly… :frog:

I look forward to any input…

Blessings upon you all…

When you knit down from the armhole, you need to decrease gradually, just as you would increase on the way up. Usually one stitch every edge every 4-5 rows until it gets down to where you want it is good. You can use the original pattern of increases on the sleeve and reverse them.
