-
My real name is Rebecca. I was never that crazy about it, but I like it better than what most people call me, which is Becky. I don’t mind Bec, though.
-
My middle name is Jean. I like that. It’s after my grandmother - I’m glad my parents went with Jean (which was also Granny’s middle name) rather than her first name. Mildred.
-
My sister’s middle name is cool - Elizabeth. I always wished it was my first name. There are so many different possibilities from Elizabeth - Eliza, Liz, Liza, Beth, Betty,Lizzy - which suited me because some days growing up, I just wanted to be someone else. Don’t we all?
-
I am now very glad that I am me.
-
I was born in MI, and lived there til I was 19. I moved to Florida and hated it. I am now 28, and have just moved back up North, although to Pennsylvania, not Michigan. Doesn’t matter though, I like it here.
-
I have a younger sister and an older brother. I am superextremelyreally close to my sister, even though she lives in FL and for some goofy reason (I think she called it…snow? Was that it?) she refuses to move to Pennsylvania. Haven’t talked to my brother for a while. I think he lives in MI, still.
-
I also have a brother that my mom gave up for adoption. I am searching for him, but it hasn’t been going too well. So, if you’re by chance a knitting guy, and adopted, and reading this, he was born in Michigan in November, 1972. Give me a call.
-
I am happily married, for almost seven years.
-
I love my DH. He’s awesome. I met him 6 months after I moved to Florida, on New Year’s Eve - got engaged 2 months later, moved in together 2 months after that, and were married 6 months after that. Phew. That ws a busy year.
-
I never wanted to have kids. I thought I’d be a horrible mom, and I was also afraid that I couldn’t have kids - my mom had 5 miscarriages, and I know my grandmother also had a lot. I figured it would be a lot easier to never try to have them than to risk having miscarriages and/or being a bad mom, so i made up my mind to just never have them.
-
My husband really wanted kids.
-
We have 2 adorable boys.
-
I did have two miscarriages, but I’m okay with that, now. We’ve just decided not to try for any more kids. And I think I turned out to be a pretty good mom. And I’m extra blessed, because I have a ton of neices and nephews that I love like they were my own.
-
I am lucky enough to be a stay at home mom for now, although I think I will be starting to work again soon.
-
I have no idea wtf I’ll be doing, though. Still haven’t decided what I want to be when I grow up.
-
My problem is not that I don’t like doing anything, it’s that there are too many things that I like to do and none of them are really comercially realistic. Oh well, I’ll get it figured out - hopefully soon.
-
I like to read - a lot.
-
I like to write. If you want you can read some of my stuff here. Just remember, I said I liked it, I didn’t say I was great at it.
-
I like to draw and paint, too. I never thought I was all that great, but my DH wants me to start again. I might, once I have a little more time.
-
I can crochet, but I’m not crazy about it. Unless you’re using ultra thin yarn, it’s too bulky and hole-y for my taste. That’s why I decided to learn to knit - I figured if I could do that, I might make something that I would actually wear.
-
I still haven’t made anything for myself.
-
I also like sculpting.
-
I like woodworking, too. I bought myself a woodburning kit last year, and that’s pretty neat, but not exactly safe with kids in the house.
-
Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of my artwork because, like my knitting, I tend to give it away.
-
I like carpentry, and general fix-it stuff, too. My dad taught me how to work on a car, fix a toilet, unclog a sink, mow a lawn, prune or cut down a tree, and all sorts of various miscellaneous stuff.
-
I am teaching my DH (and eventually my boys) to do all of that stuff, too.
-
DH still kills bugs for me.
-
Even though I tell him to catch it and take it outside instead.
-
The bugs up here are sissy bugs compared to the ones in Florida. The palmetto bugs(a type of beetle/cockroach thing that can easily grow to be about an inch or two long) alone are enough to send someone running, not to mention the spiders almost as big as your hand.
-
Spiders never really bothered me until I moved there.
-
I really, really did not like living in Florida.
-
This is harder than I thought it would be. But, on the bright side, I’m almost 1/3 of the way through…
-
Now I’m 1/3 of the way through.
-
I really like my screen name
-
My other screen name is Mamabear, which was what someone that I didn’t really like very much called me when I was pregnant with my first son. I liked the name though, and it has stuck around longer than the person that I didn’t like very much.
-
I like this one because I really love my family, and I love music, it’s an important part of my life, and this showcases my two favorite kinds of music - punk and classic/protest rock.
-
My husband introduced me to punk music. I was not crazy about at first.
-
He used to call me his little hippie chick  That made me smile.
-
I really started to like punk music when my ears ‘caught up’ to the music - it takes a while of listening to it before it sounds like anything except babbling.
-
I like it a lot because not only is it fun and energetic, a lot of punk bands are very socially concious, and sing about things that mean something.
-
Just like protest rock (:
-
Then again, a lot of it is just about getting drunk or ‘altered’ and partying.
-
Just like classic rock. (:
-
I won’t list my favorite bands, but if you ask, I’ll tell you.
-
I think music is just as evocotive as scent as far as being tied to memories is concerned. Play a song for me, and I can probably tell you the first time I heard it, what I was doing, who I was with, or something important that happened to me connected to that song.
-
Unless I don’t know the song. then I’ll just stare at you blankly.
-
But I enjoy a really wide range of music, so you probably would get an answer.
-
I wish Name That Tune was still around. I would kick ass.
-
One thing that I want to do is compile a soundtrack of my life, kind of like my autobiography on CD. That would be awesome, I think.
-
Woo hoo! Halfway done! Are you bored yet??
-
I am a socially concious person.
-
I’m just concious of it, though. I am very empathetic, so I generally just learn what I can and try to see it from all points of view.
-
I am a registered Democrat.
-
This is ironic because I tend to lean towards the Republican ‘ideals’ of a smaller government and personal empowerment and responsibility - but I don’t think the Republicans practice them very well.
-
And they suck on environmental issues, which I care about a lot.
-
I like living in Amish country.
-
If I could convince my DH to do it, I wouldn’t mind living that way.
-
But I wouldn’t be Amish.
-
I am not a fan of organized religion.
-
It reminds me too much of a government.
-
I wish every one was smart and moral enough that we didn’t need either.
-
I was really kind of nervous about doing this, because I didn’t want to bore everyone with gushing about my kids and DH.
-
I think I’ve done well so far.
-
I am a very mulifaceted person, and this is difficult for me because there’s an awful lot about me to know.
-
I like chocolate.
-
Hey, 2/3 of the way through already, not bad!!
-
I loooove coffee. I drink it so much that a friend of mine used to joke that he was going to create a comic book about me, called “The Adventures of Javagirl”
-
Hey, that should be my screen name…hmmm…
-
~snicker~ ~snort~ ~giggle~
-
My astrological sign is Cancer.
-
My birthstone is ruby.
-
I like crabs. They’re yummy.
-
I don’t like rubies.
-
I think stuff like astrology and Tarot is fun, but I don’t live by it.
-
I live by trying to make myself a better person, to learn all that I can and by trying to make a difference, however small it may be.
-
I believe in God.
-
I will not forward an email that says, “if you believe in God, forward this to all your friends.”
-
God will not disown me because I did not forward a stupid email, and you cannot prove your faith by forwarding an email.
-
If I liked it, I will edit out that part and forward it to people that I think will enjoy it.
-
You’re welcome.
-
I have two dogs and a cat.
-
I like dogs, but they were my husband’s idea. He never had one before.
-
I like my cat, too.
-
We always had a houseful of animals growing up. I think it’s important that people have pets; it teaches responsibility, respect for animals, and compassion.
-
Did I mention I like coffee?? I’m going to go get some, brb…
-
Okay, I’m back. Man this is good.
-
Coffee is one of my two addictions. I also smoke.
-
I’m not really crazy about that. I’ve been thinking about hypnosis to help me stop, I’ve heard that works really well. But I don’t like the idea of someone messing around in my head. That’s why I haven’t done it yet.
-
I generally don’t drink, only occassionally, almost always socially.
-
I did have a period of almost obsessive drinking and such, but I lacked the inherent hopelessness to let it go too far. Being in an altered state of mind just seemed kind of stupid after a while, and it only made my problems worse, so I stopped.
-
I was very lucky that I hadn’t let things get so far that I couldn’t stop.
-
That’s depressing, so I’m moving on.
-
If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be “deep”.
-
Not that I’m Socrates or anything, but there’s a lot going on underneath, and I don’t think anyone really has known all sides of me. Not even me.
-
But I like that, I think it’s cool that I am finding out new stuff about myself all the time. When you stop growing, the only thing left to do is start dying.
-
So hopefully, I’ll keep growing until I’m eighty or so, when I’ll move to a retirement home and eat chocolate donuts for breakfast every morning and laugh at the nurses when they try to make me switch to decaf.
-
I hope to see the world before I die.
-
I hope to write a novel before I die.
-
I want to live to a ripe old age with my DH, and my wonderful sons, my sister and brothers in law and sisters in law and all my neices and nephews around me, and eventually all the grandbabies, grandnephews and grandneices I can fit in my house.
-
I think the best thing in life is family -whether blood related or a family of friends- and that no one can live without that kind of love.
Over and out.
