Well, I needed a break from the lace wrap I am knitting (:hair:-enough said!) and wanted something easy and relaxing - so I knitted up a couple of dishcloths over the weekend. Thought I’d share:
I knit up a swan pattern (measures 8 1/2 x 9 3/4), a basketweave pattern (9 1/2 x 7 1/4), and the fleur de lis illusion (pictures show the striped side and the fleur de lis side-measures 8 1/2 x 9 3/4). They were fun to do - hope you enjoy!

great job! i think that fleur de lis just got put close to the very top on my dishcloths-to-knit list. :knitting:
The stripe was the result when the image isn’t showing on the fluer de lys dishcloth - the pattern is found here: http://www.knittersedge.com/Diamond/patterns/hkp97.pdf
If you just wanted to knit the stripes it would be all knit, switching the color every two rows and carrying the colors up the side of the piece. To get the size I did you would cast on 45 stitches, knit two rows in one color, knit two rows in second color, switch back to first color, etc.
The basketweave I just did from a stitch pattern and did about 4-5 repeats to get it the width and height I wanted.
Go for it! The illusion dishcloth was MUCH easier than I thought it would be.

How did you get the swan to “pop” so well? I have knitted several washcloths for my brother in Iraq and you can’t always tell what the pattern is when it is done. I can see it but sometimes others can’t. Any suggestions?

Dobek1011 - I PM’d you, but I really think that the reason it popped so well was that I knit it at a fairly tight gauge and used a worsted weight cotton - the combination seemed to work very well. Great idea to send washcloths to your brother!!! and I’m sure he appreciates it (as we appreciate him!) Good luck. Chris
