A cable/aran question

@Steve66

I used to help out with the baking section at our local show (country Victoria). Any participant could ask to receive feedback from the judge on their entry. Our show was very small, so you could hear from the judge in person after the judging was finished. Or you could ask for them to leave the feedback in a note that you collected when you collected your cake to take home at the end of the show.

In the baking section, there’s a set recipe fruitcake section, and if you win you can progress to regional, state and national level. One young woman was very interested, and visited with the steward and judge for a couple of years, and practised a lot. She ended up doing very well at the Victorian level.

I am not sure whether they offer this feedback at the big shows, but you could certainly contact the steward for the sections you are entering and ask next year.

Or you could just keep doing your own thing and enjoying it. I am sure many people enjoyed seeing your entries.

Maybe you could submit something to the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo? That is coming up mid-year. They show off the top garment entries in a fashion parade, which is always wonderful.

Smart, honestly wow

Hi this is not directed at anyone in particular but I have given up that idea because shaping is too hard. I have decided to got on 4mm needles and use a known pattern next size up so it is easy to get on and off. I decreased 2 stitches to get 178 stitches which is one stitch each edge for selvedge and a number divisible by 8 to make an even number of honeycomb cable stitches and the front will be the same starting cable as the back. Put 2 stitches on cable at front of work. Each row is 44 of those.
