A bit confused

I’m making an afghan in what they’re calling Sea Foam pattern and it says “on rows 2 and 6 of pat, work (p1, k1) into each double yo.”

I don’t know what “work into” means and the only double yo in the pattern is in row 1. :?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

You do the double yarn over on row 1, then on row 2 when you come to that spot you will purl into the first yarn over (from the previous row) and knit into the second yarn over. You sure there’s no double yarn over in row 5??? Do you have a link to the pattern?

can you give us more of the stitch pattern, just as it is written? The Seafoam stitch patterns i have googled don’t look the same as what you have written so i can’t see if i can figure it out. (i prolly can’t but i do like to try…lol)

In row 5 there are two seperate yo (stitches in between them) while in row 1 the yo’s are together (double?). The pattern is in the book so there isn’t a link. Thanks for the help I think maybe? I understand. I’ll try it.

The stitch pattern is:

Row 1 (RS): Sl 1, k4, *k2tog, [yo] twice, ssk; rep from * to last 5 sts, K5.
Rows 2 & 6: Sl1, k4, purl to last 5 sts, K5.
3 & 7: Sl 1, knit to end of row
4 & 8: Sl1, k4, purl to last 5 sts, k5.
Row 5: Sl 1, k4, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo; rep from to last 5 sts, k5.
Repeat 1-8 for patt.

By the way, for row 1 why does it say (RS). I know that means right side but technically, don’t you just knit where the yarn is? Isn’t that automatically the RS? (yes I’m new)… Thanks!

it’s telling you that is going to be the side that is the “visible” side when it is complete (for example the outside of a sweater)

row 5 does have the YOs together as you are repeating between the *. there is a YO at the beginning and the end. keep following the pattern…it will make sense when you get there.
