42" Jumper - what size for a lady?

Hi I am looking to copy a childs 42" jumper pattern and was wondering what size it would be for a lady? The jumper is said to fit a 14-16y/o child.

Any thoughts?

That’s an interesting question. Can you link to the pattern? What size is the lady in question?

Unfortunately I’ve only got the patter in hardcopy but the lady is a size 10 Uk

I guess that first you’d need to compare the measurements of the pattern and the measurements for the size needed. Will it need shaping to accommodate an adult’s body? It could be quite complicated, or if it’s a simple pattern it could be fairly easy. If you have the name of the pattern and the book it’s in, someone might have it. Alternatively you could find a similar pattern in the correct size. www.ravelry.com is my first place to look for patterns.

I’m wondering if 42" for a jumper for a 14-16y/o is correct. I assume that 42" is the bust/chest measurement of the finished jumper. The reason I ask is because a UK size 10 is approx 34" bust (body not garment) measurement and equates to a US size 6 or 8, depending on which conversion chart one uses. This means there is either a lot of positive ease in the jumper or the hypothetical teenager is very large.
