2 rows away from finishing my hat and I'm STUCK!

I’m at the end of round 7 and trying to move on to round 8. Not understanding the instructions to “K the last stitch together with the first stitch of row 8.”

After the last P2tog on row 7, I have the correct number of stitches (38). There is not another stitch to K together with anything!

What simple thing am I missing here?!

ROUND 7: K1, * P2tog, K2 * end P2tog K the last stitch together with the first stitch of next round. Place locking stitch marker on this stitch to mark beginning/end of round. (38 sts).

ROUND 8: * P1, K2tog * end P1, K1. (26 sts).

Hi there! I just dropped back in and saw your post, I am not as professional as the others, but, I have had that problem.
K the last stitch together with the 1st st of the next round.
You will have to remove your stitch marker and add it after you k 2tog. There your round 8 will start.
I hope that helps you are almost done!

Thanks for the input! I am still confused. In round 7, once I do the last P2tog, I am done with that round and have 38 sts. How can I knit the last stitch with anything if there is not another stitch?

Hi.
I sat and wrote down numbers 1 to 38.
I then followed pattern for row 7 and after last p2 together you should have knit 2
This completes row leaving you with 26 stitches.
You would knit that last knit stitch with first stitch of next round placing your marker there.
I don’t know what the end p2 tog is .
Thats how I would treat it.
Hope that helps❤

Thanks to both of you. Looks like I dropped a stitch somewhere, hence the missing last stitch that wants to be K together with the first st of next round. Off to frog.

If the repeats of round 7 did not leave you with one K remaining, then either round 6 ended with the wrong stitch count or you missed a k2tog or a K in the repeats in round 7.

Round seven uses 4 sts off the left needle but only makes 3 new sts on the right needle (because of each K2tog).
That means round 6 ends with 50 sts. Yes?
If hou can read your stitches in round 7 you should be able to see how far back you need to frog-it.
