[color=green]I am going to try my first socks. I want to use 2 circular needles not DPNs…Doing them both at the same time.
Should they be on the same kind…2 bamboos or 2 metal? Or can I use one bamboo and one metal?
Should they be the same length or if I have one 16" and one 24" is that okay?

As long as the needles are the same size, the length of the cable and material from which the needles were made is unimportant. In fact, using one bamboo and one metal would probably make it easier as you’re less likely to pick up the wrong needle.
If you’re doing two socks at once, I think a 16" circ will be uncomfortably short, though.
I agree on everything; 16 is really too short.
