1st pair of socks on DPN and it's inside out?

I’ve been going along fine, looking at them thinking they were looking kind of funny, and then I realized, I’m knitting them inside out! Is this how it’s supposed to be? If it is - Whew! If not, will I run into problems when I get beyond the leg part? How do I fix it if I’m wrong?

When you hold the needles with the stitches on them in your hands, you need to be knitting with the needles closest to you. I suspect that you are knitting with the needles furthest from you, which would cause you to be working on the inside of the sock rather than the outside. You could flip it inside out and continue on, this time with the needles closest to you.
