1st Addi Turbos Assessment

OK, everyone. Just purchased my 1st Addi turbos, 24-inch size 8 circulars at LYS. Couldn’t resist. Wanted to be sure I knew what I was talking about in comparison to Susan Bates Silvalume circulars.

The Addis feel great in my hands…only slightly better than Susan Bates.
The Addis make a little more clinking sound than Susan Bates.
The Addis may be slightly faster than Susan Bates.

Don’t know if the bend in the Susan Bates needles is more helpful or not. The Addis have no bend. Will have to wait until I’m working on a larger project.

I probably have just about all the needles I need except 12s and 16s. Will I buy more Addis? Not sure. I can get the Susan Bates locally…no waiting, no shipping charges, don’t have to add to my credit card balance, and sometimes Ben Franklin has coupons for 40% off or $3.00 off on purchases.

The Addis can be purchased locally, but not at as good a price as Jeff on Ebay…but the packages avaliable locally say Addi Turbo, the ones at Jeff’s do not.

The turbo bit doesn’t make a difference. I think it’s just packaging for where they’re meant to be sold.

The one thing I’ve encountered with other needles but not the Addis is that the tips on the others get chipped and worn. Addis don’t.

The more I knit with them, the more I LIKE them.

Could it be…I’m becoming addicted?

If you have to be addicted to something, it might as well be good needles!

How can I find Jeff in ebay?? Thanks

Here is a link to the thread about the local dealer.

I have probably 15 sets that I have bought from Jeff- all but one say Addi Turbo- not that I think it makes a difference, but if that is what you are basing part of your decision on… Seems like it was a #7 16" that I have that don’t say Turbo.

I’ve ordered two sets from Jeff that I expect to arrive today but I couldn’t wait so I ran out and bought a set of size 7 with a 16 inch cord for a doggie sweater I plan to make soon. I haven’t gotten to use them but just touching them is awesome…I love how flexible the cord is and how easily the tips glide across each other when I rub them together.

Just thought I’d pitch in my two cents worth.

I’m knitting socks with my Addi size 1’s and talk about being fluid! I’m not sure why, I am knitting just the same as I always have, but this project seems to be moving along faster… could it be the addis??? The world may never know

In the UK they are called Addi Premium.

I’m still in love with my Susan Bates Silvalumes. They feel pretty much the same as the Addis. I worked with both brands yesterday. Current WIP is being knitted on size 6 Susan Bates. It’s a great opportunity for comparison. Stitches glide off needles just like Addis. Susan Bates are actually quieter than the Addis, but the sound doesn’t bother me. However, I suspect that I will buy more Addis when adding any sizes I don’t already have.
