13 st = 4" gauge

Hello,

I am trying to decipher the gauge for a mobius scarf and the gauge says 13 st = 4". What does that mean? Usually in the past the gauge lists how many stitches and rows = 4 inches…

This is for how many stitches wide - so you’re looking at a bulky weight yarn for this project.

It doesn’t matter how many rows/inch as the stitch count is more important. Especially for a mobius as the number of stitches determines the size of it. And yes, a bulky yarn and large needles, like 11 or 13.
