I am knitting my first sweater in the round on circular needles. It is bottom up. For the sleeves, I am using 12" circular needles instead of DPNs or magic loop. My question is: how do I move the first finished sleeve that still has live stitches on it, from the 12" circular needs to a stitch holder so I can knit the second sleeve on the 12" circular needle. Or, is that impossible and I need to purchase another 12" circular needle?
As always, thank you in advance for your help!
Claudia
Hi Claudia, Can you transfer the live sts to another sized circular (smaller will be fine) or a long yarn scrap or something - string, ribbon whatever you have on hand.
I am having difficulty picturing moving what is basically a tube of fabric from the 12" circular to something to hold the stitches until it’s time to pick up the stitches to form the yoke. Sounds dumb, I know, but that is the challenge. Currently, I only have one 12" circular set and need to free it up for the second sleeve or purchase an new 12" circular.
If you have a tapestry needle (wide eye & blunt end, used for seaming in knitting) you can use that to thread a length of scrap yarn through the live sts ,one by one, transferring them off the circular onto the scrap yarn and then knot the ends to secure them.

This video shows how it is done.
Hoping this helps
