I have bid on an auction of 100% alpaca in a Dk or worsted weight. Should I work it doubled along with a strand of 100% wool? If so, would laceweight be a large enough yarn to pair it with? I am planning to make a cardigan.
I think it would depend on your needle size and desired gauge. Once you get it, knit a swatch and see what you think! It may be fine on its own!
Alpaca will be fine by itself. But, if you want to carry it along with wool, go with a fingering-DK weight, just so you won’t add extra bulk to your projetct.
