The 3 gals I am teaching to knit needed a real project and I wanted them to learn shaping, picking up stitches, buttonholes, 3 needle bind off and seaming. So I designed a simple sweater that included all those features. I told them to get worsted weight yarn and I would design it to work with the yarn they got. They got some Caron Simply Soft at Wal-Mart. I had a skein myself so I was in business. It is very simple but a good learning tool and will be cute for the gals to give as a gift to someone. I want them to get hooked.
Here is how it turned out.
Then I made one for a boy in Wool-Ease at the same gauge.

I got the gals in my class started with swatches last week so they could figure out which needles they needed. They are all started on their sweaters now.
I’m looking forward to seeing how far they got when we get together on Thursday.
