0-3 mo. sweater for my knitting class

The 3 gals I am teaching to knit needed a real project and I wanted them to learn shaping, picking up stitches, buttonholes, 3 needle bind off and seaming. So I designed a simple sweater that included all those features. I told them to get worsted weight yarn and I would design it to work with the yarn they got. They got some Caron Simply Soft at Wal-Mart. I had a skein myself so I was in business. It is very simple but a good learning tool and will be cute for the gals to give as a gift to someone. I want them to get hooked. Here is how it turned out.

Then I made one for a boy in Wool-Ease at the same gauge.

I got the gals in my class started with swatches last week so they could figure out which needles they needed. They are all started on their sweaters now. I’m looking forward to seeing how far they got when we get together on Thursday.

Very cute! Any chance that you will be sharing the pattern with us?

I’m in WA too.

Great job!! The sweaters look really cute!

How cute are they?

They look wonderful!!

Both are adorable! Great first sweater project!

Great way to learn things and end up with something cute too. What a good idea.

Just adorable, and in those yarns, they’ll be so soft, too!cloud9

I’d love to have had you for a teacher, you’ve included most of the important basics. The sweaters are very cute.

I just love the golden colors of Fall! These sweaters remind me of the golden season just past! Sigh! I am in total denial that winter is upon us! I keep clinging to Fall!

Your work is alway great, as are these little sweaters! :muah:
