I'm making a tote bag. It says to "cast on 41 stitches and work base back and forth in seed stitch, working selvedge stitches in stockinette st as follows.
Then it says "row 1:K2, p1,(k1 p1) to last 2 stitches, k2." It then goes on to describe more pattern stitches up to 58 rows. Could someone please tell me where these selvedge stitches are, and why this is included in the base of the bag? This is a pattern from the net, from "Knitty", called BYOB, or bring your own bag.
