I'm a Continental knitter too. I do the same thing Tinker does. I hold the yarn over strand to the top of the right hand needle with my right index finger as I work the K2tog. It shouldn't be real hard to do a K2tog in this sort of situation.
The only other thing would be if you are a real tight knitter, then it could be harder.
Having to do it English would be a problem all right. I have resorted to English for some weird situations too, not fun. Let us know if you get this figured out so that it is easier. Good luck.
