I am knitting a vintage 'pram coat' and cannot work out what to do next....
The coat is knitted as one piece up to the armholes, therefore have 299 stitches. There is a 8 row pattern, with an 8 stitch decrease in both line 1 & 5. All of this is straightforward. The instructions then reads
Keeping the continuity of the borders and st-st throughout work 28 rows dec ( as before) working 2 sts less between each dec in 2nd and every following 4th row. 227 sts
Thats it. Questions, what does this mean? There is no dec in row 3. With the number of stitches decreasing , where do I put the decrease sts? Do I need to work out the number of stitches left & equalise them across the row? Any ideas?
Pattern is about 40 years old I'd say if that helps anyone...
All help appreciated. Would like to knit this before the baby is born!
