Many years ago, when I was in college I knitted two sweaters. The first was a total disaster, the pattern too difficult for a new knitter. The second was just fine, white red heart wool with watermelon (bright pink) and white yoke. Fine great. I just did them. Without regard that they might be too difficult, I liked the patterns and gave it a try anyway. i was disappointed on the first attempt, I remember ripping it out (what else to do with one sleeve down to here and one shoulder off over here, you get the picture). Don't remember any more on that one.
Then some years later I learned to spin on a Navajo spindle and did my own yarn and made v-neck knitted in the round vest. Wore it for years. I think I made another vest type open in the front with bought yarn but dont remember too much.
So now what is the problem. I am kind of tired of huge rectangles aka afghans/shawls/wide scaves. I want to do a vest or sweater again. I am scared that I will not fit.
I have been reading Wendy Knits and she has some simple patterns there (I have amassed a ton of patterns - for everything from afghans to socks ) so i have no shortage of patterns.
Anyone else with this problem when you haven't knitted much in the last 20 years.
