Then, for row 2, if it looks like a knit stitch (as it faces you now, looking at row 2), knit it and if it looks like a purl stitch, purl it. The best thing to do is know what the different stitches looks like (Jan, where are ya with that handy pic of yours? ). A knit stitch will look like a little 'v' and a purl will look like a tiny bump.
