Hi all, this is my first time posting. I'm knitting a hat in the round, and want to create a checkered pattern but I'm having trouble. I did a ribbed bottom and then a few stockinette rows in red and I messed up somewhere along the way. Here's how I know: I thought I finished a row and then tried to add in a new color (gray) and do 2 stitches gray, 2 red (still just regular stockinette, no more ribbing), then when I got to the next row, it look like I started in the wrong place, like it's not all even on a row. This means the checked pattern I am going for will look more like an upward spiral, I guess? I can't figure out how to find where I should start to add my CC to achieve an even row of checkers (they're going to be 2 st across x 3 high). I feel like my brain is melting. Can someone explain how I can find the right place to start my checkers to get even rows? I attached some pictures of the problem. Thank you!
