I thought the tickets when we were in Vegas were wayyyyy too much to go see him last year when we were there and dh doesn't even like him (he is strictly a Blues and Old Country Western man.) I think he is a very talented man though and would like to see him someday.
Boy, the kids of today would be really bored with the stuff from the 60's and we thought we were so cool. I have to tell a funny story though. I had NEVER been to a concert in my life as my parents, then grandparents wouldn't let me go to them. When I was around 32-33 a younger friend of mine that I worked with at the Naval Medical Clinic had 2 tickets to go see the Beach Boys in concert. I jumped at the chance, not only to see them, but because I was such a virgin concert goer and thought it would be this grand experience. This was back in the early 80's btw. We were seated pretty high up in the venue and there were tons of people standing down in I guess today it is the mosh (sp?) pit. I was puzzled by this but didn't say anything thinking they were standing there to get autographs. After the concert started, and NO ONE was sitting in their seats, I asked her why people paid to stand up down in front. She laughed at me, but explained it all like I was a toddler. A little later, I noticed it was so foggy in the auditorium and they weren't using any dry ice special affects or anything and then I got hit with this burnt rope smell. I thought the place was on fire and kind of panicked. Let me tell you, she got a REAL kick out of having to explain marijuana to a 30+ year old! I felt totally dumb and never went to any kind of "rock n roll" concert again.
I know you will all groan at this, but honestly the best concert I have gone to in recent years was Wayne Newton. His voice is not as good as when he was younger, but he plays strictly to the crowd and really makes you feel like he is entertaining just you. We went to see him a couple years ago down here at the Tunica Casinos and he was just great. He made the guards and security stand to the side and let people walk up to him and give him stuff. One little old lady gave him cookies! He did this musical salute to the military and had everyone that had ever been in the military stand up. He then went from one side of the stage across it and saluted all the guys and the few women in the audience that were standing. I was totally impressed with that probably because of my dh being a 20 year Navy Veteran. He even took requests!
