I know there's a good amount of nurses here and considering we're knitters and crocheters, I'm sure a lot of us have felt the pains of carpal tunnel.
Alright. I have early stages of carpal tunnel. Depending on the difficulty of my work, I can do about 1 hour of knitting before I start feeling strain. I try to pace myself as much as I can and take frequent breaks between rows.
Last week I took a break from knitting to work on a couple of ideas I had for knitting bags. I made three. I felt much a lot of strain on both wrists but I just wanted to get the things done.
Finished my last bag last night, and stupid me, started knitting something. I had to abandong it after 5 rows due to the pain in my wrists.
Went to bed, did my grocery shopping this morning, watched some tv, futzzed about with the computer and about two hours ago, I sat down to knit again. I didn't feel any strain for a while.
Then I look down and notice that in my right forearm, right below the wrist, there's a bruise. It's about 2 inches long and between half and 3/4 in. thick. It wasn't there yesterday.
It was greenish. I stopped the knitting and refrained from doing much handy work and now, two hours later, the bottom of the bruise is already turning a reddish brown. It's slightly tender.
I'm not a "bruiser". It usually takes about a week for bruises to show up on me, so this one startled me.
I was looking up information on sprains, strains and bruising and found this article on hand and wrist injuries.
Has anyone have that happen before?
I didn't hit my arm anywhere, so my only guess is that the bruise came around from the strain. Can this be?
