Knowing that I’m a knitting nut, a friend of mine on her travels to the Far East brought me back a new kind of circular needle that I thought you might want to look at.
It’s a metal cable – Hmm – first thought was: ‘It’ll snag on the wool.’ but it didn’t and still hasn’t. (There’s a picture of a red/pink cardigan I’m knitting on this cable under ‘Limey’s circs picture ….’ further down the General Knitting page).
It’s been amazingly flexible and I didn’t have to steam it or give it the warm water treatment when I got it out the pack.
I’m not that familiar with circs – I’m usually a strictly, straights-under-the-arm knitter, but I was pretty impressed and it seems to compare well with the small Addi I have for toddlers hats.
I haven’t come across a metal circ before and would love to know what you think. I’m wondering if there’s a chance I may be able to buy these cables but I don’t know which would be the most popular sizes – diameter wise, maybe – but definitely not length.
If you could choose diameter and length, what would you like best? There are some close-ups of the circ below. Please let me know what you think and which sizes you would choose.
