I agree about the scarf idea. I was actually thinking the same thing. It is made with yarn doubled throughout, so that may be a little thick....
[b]the pattern is as follows:
Size 10 needles
Cast on 23 stitches (remember, use two peices of yarn) work rows 1 through 4 of pattern stitch until piece measures desired length ~40inches for baby sized blanket 60inches for afghan, end on row 1. bind off stitches.
row 1: k3, *p2,k3, rep from * across row
row2: k3, *k1, yo, k1, k3, rep from * across row
row 3: k3, *p3(purl yo as a st), k3, rep from * across row
row 4 k3, * sl1, k2, psso (pass the sl st over the 2 k sts), k3, rep from * across row[/b]
Also, the afghan size has 7 pannels.....I think it is really up to you how many you use. I tried using this pattern without doubling the yarn, and it didn't really work well.
